Possiamo definire il mantra come una sillaba, fonema, parola o frase in una delle lingue sacre (come il sanscrito o il gurmukhi) capace di elevare o modificare la consapevolezza dell’individuo attraverso il proprio significato, suono, ritmo, tonalità ed anche la riflessologia della lingua sul alcuni precisi punti meridiani situati all’interno della bocca.
I mantra sono composti da “suoni” capaci di modificare la consapevolezza della mente e la chimica del cervello. Come ogni parola essi hanno un significato, ma sarebbe limitativo ed errato credere che l’effetto che generano derivi solo da quest’ultimo. Ogni “suono”, ogni sillaba è una formula che determina la stimolazione di alcuni punti particolari sul palato superiore (ne sono stati individuati 84) che innescano una risposta da parte del cervello e vanno ad attivare delle aree del sistema nervoso che permettono di modificare il proprio stato.
